At Bilway Marine Ltd we provide services and maintenance on the 36 miles of the Manchester ship canal from Eastham and Manchester. This area of Manchester City is up and coming, with fresh new businesses setting up and residential areas being built regularly. We clear vegetation from the waterways, perform necessary tree surgery to keep the canals clear, removal of debris from the waterways and service the navigation way's lighting. Our service also provides aid and assistance via water when needed, in the form of rescues and safety boats. This section of the Manchester canal is much clearer and safer because of our team’s hard work.

Some other exciting project work we are involved in is the installing of new water turbines along the canal. We also provide assistance via water with our fleet services for many businesses along the canals. We also offer safety boat services for TV & film production companies.

We also manage 2 Ferry services for the public across the canal from Urmston to Flixton and The Thelwall Ferry.

Both ferries may be cancelled subject to weather and flood water.  Carrying up to 4 persons at a time, the first crossing leaves 10-15 mins after opening with the last crossing leaving 5 mins before closing, and takes 2-3 minutes to cross. Pets and bicycles are now permitted at the discretion of the ferry-person.

In relation to COVID-19, the safety of our crew and service users is our main priority, therefore we shall be continuing to wear the relevant personal protective equipment. We are also maintaining social distancing on our ferry service and within other projects, wherever possible. All compliance is greatly appreciated.
